(Anonymous) 2012-12-22 06:15 am (UTC)(link)How did one of the local (Midwestern) radio stations deal with it? By marking the one week anniversary with the story of the children going to heaven and meeting Jesus, told a la "The Night Before Christmas." It made me tear up.
We all do/think different (sometimes odd) things to deal with tragedy, and no one can shame you or any of us for it. Sometimes fictionalizing it helps us deal with it because it helps us come to terms with a horrible thing we couldn't prevent. In our heads, we can change the outcome and/or imagine what comes after, and that helps us cope.
