I'm not usually a kinkmeme person. I'll venture on there to read recced fics, but I generally find them scary places. The Hobbit kink meme has become my obsession, though. I feel like a bad fan. I wasn't this way with LOTR. I didn't feel the need to read kinky fics. I shouldn't be doing this to Tolkein's characters.

And yet. The kink is awesome. I'm tracking nearly every thread. There are already awesome fills, and the place is new enough not to have descended into the scary yet. And I'm not sure I would mind if it had.

So what's got the biggest fanbase, pairing-wise? The big ones seem to be Thorin/Bilbo and Fili/Kili, from as far as I can tell on Tumblr.

Mostly those two plus Kili/Bilbo and Thorin/Kili or Fili (or both).

There is also some decent gen prompts, a bunch of Thorin/Thranduil, a few amusing Legolas/Gimli tell their father's prompts, some creepy ones involving Azog or the Necromancer, a few Gandalf/Elrond or Galadrial, and some Bilbo/all the dwarves.

No offense meant anon, but IDG this attitude. I've definitely seen it now and then on tumblr, too; people saying "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO TOLKIEN'S CHARACTERS?!"

They're just characters, like every other character who ever existed. Tolkien was just a man, even if a particularly well loved one. Don't get me wrong, I know that the universe and the characters and the story are special to people; they are to me to, very much so!

But...it doesn't matter. If you want to read fanfic it isn't going to ruin someone else's experience. Or shouldn't anyway, and you can't be responsible for it if it does.

...That said, yea, I'm digging the kink meme too, anon. Fanfiction.net, Ao3 and tumblr all have fic too, and it's been glorious to see the 'birth' of the fandom.
