I like reading/viewing predominantly male characters because:
1. I like looking at/reading about attractive men.
2. I frequently (not always) am jealous of the insanely attractive females that get portrayed.

This is me, pretty much. If there were female characters who looked like me--i.e., probably on the uglier side of average--I would actually like reading about them. But they don't exist outside of being the butt of a joke, and that makes for some pretty une-njoyable media for me.
