Maybe straight women prefer to look at hot men, but it doesn't logically follow that therefore straight women will prefer a comic/movie/show with ten male leads to one with five male and five female.

Also, the OP was specifically talking about casts that have no particular reason to be overwhelmingly male. They didn't say they refuse to give male-dominated things a chance, and yes, there is a difference.
