This might be a trend with western video games (though I think it's a VERY loose trend) but not with Japanese video games. Even taking away "anime" color hair, I think the most famous video game male leads are what, Mario and Link?

Dragon Age 2's character had black hair! The new Assassin's Creed character has dark hair, too, and iirc he's (half?) Native American.

Though yes, diversity is good. Particularly some ethnic diversity.

op doesn't appear to be talking about Japanese games and oh wow you listed two whole games, they're really bucking the trend with their variety.
