I will never understand this idea that fanfiction is holy and never to be criticized -- except when it gets posted to places like weepingcock or some other community/site/blog/thing devoted entirely to mockery. Whither went thee, Middle Ground?

The whole thing bugs me, a lot. I have to wonder if it's related to the things American social manners demand of women - criticising things is unseemly, etc.
