I agree OP.

I love Thomas, but what he did was beyond creepy and I can't see them in a romantic relationship at all. Thankfully the Christmas special didn't go down that road... the storyline is still shitty however.

Hopefully in S4 Thomas will get an actual love interest who loves him back (and doesn't die).

I semi agree with you - fandom really does ignore the harrassment, which I don't like.
That said, I wouldn't be utterly surprised if they eventually did get together. More surprised now than last week, but the way things now stand is pretty much what I expected to happen.

Tbh, I think people assumed from the press releases before the series aired that it was going to be mutual. So they got attached to the pairing and now they can't let it go.

Honestly, and the scene breaks my heart every time, I have trouble even romanticising Thomas's relationship with the soldier in Series 2. I don't doubt he felt something, but with Thomas, everything is also a means to the end of "get the hell out of this life." I think he was crying as much for his lost chances as he was for someone he cared about.

Oh Thomas, I love you and how badly you screw up your own life so very much.

I unapologetically ship this pairing and no one can stop me.

The harassment was definitely skeevy and not okay, but I do genuinely believe it was from a failure to communicate (at least until the totally cringeworthy kiss that I had to watch through my fingers) rather than Thomas just being a creep.

SPOILERS FOR THE XMAS SPECIAL

I looooooved their scenes together, especially the last one. Thomas seems to show a real desire to change and not be such a scumbag, and Jimmy seems refreshingly nonjudgmental and forgiving. Even if they don't get together, I look forward to how much better of a BFF Jimmy will be than O'Brien ever was.

I thought that scene was sweet, and I'm glad Thomas and Jimmy resolved things. I feel sorry for Thomas and he deserves a friend just as much as he deserves a boyfriend.

What bothers me is that some (if not most) Thommy shippers aren't taking into account Jimmy's feelings. I feel like Thommy fans are treating Jimmy like he's the bad guy when he has every right to not reciprocate Thomas's feelings, and be pissed off for what happened. When I got onto Tumblr after the Xmas special, I found endless bitching that Thomas was 'friendzoned.' *eyeroll* Can't they at least be be happy about the fact that Jimmy is accepting Thomas's homosexuality, and forgiving him for the sexual harrassment/assault?

Soooo... I don't watch this show, does someone want to fill me in (probably with their own bias attached) so I can understand why this is so creepy?

Thomas -- the dark haired one -- is about as openly homosexual as it was possible to be and not get arrested in 1920s England. Jimmy -- the blond -- is heterosexual. Thomas is older and in a position of authority relative to Jimmy. He was pretty clearly attracted to Jimmy and got rather handsy to the point where Jimmy was uncomfortable around him.

But Jimmy never said anything to Thomas directly; instead he told a third character with a grudge against Thomas, who advised Jimmy to say nothing because it'd be good for his career if Thomas liked him, and then turned around and told Thomas that Jimmy had confessed an attraction to him.

Which led to Thomas acting on what he thought was a mutual attraction in a not very sensible way: he kissed Jimmy while Jimmy was asleep.

This is just... headdesks all around, there. But yeah, that's incredibly creepy/unhealthy.

Although I think if I were Jimmy there, depending on how Thomas handled it Id be more unhappy with the third person than with Thomas, although Tommy there could stand a good hard shot of common sense.

I feel sorry for both of them, Jimmy more so. That's awful. :(

Uh-huh, creep-tacular. I had to watch the kiss through my fingers; I was cringing the whole time. But yeah, they were both pretty pissed at the third party -- Thomas immediately and Jimmy when he wised up to how he'd been used. Thomas would probably have backed off if Jimmy'd said something, he was pretty clear on the fact that Jimmy wasn't gay ("He's a proper little ladies' man") until the other one stuck her oar in.

I used to ship Thommy but now I'm just happy about them being friends. Thomas is so obviously in love with him and it hurtsssss because he's my second favourite character (Mary being the first <3). Tbh the main reason why I shipped Thommy was Thomas's happiness, I thought he would finally get a lover after all this time and that would make him happier... But nope! He may find one on series 4. Also, he seems very happy now and I'm glad.

I am DEEPLY unhappy that coming on to someone when you genuinely think they like you is considered 'harrassment.' Thomas had been lied to. When the guy made it clear he wasn't interested, Thomas backed off.

I just don't understand why Jimmy was introduced as the Hottest Guy Ever. Like, he's attractive, but not especially so. Pretty much as hot as the rest of the footmen, including Thomas himself. idgi.
