Re: Literary piracy
(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 12:18 am (UTC)(link)And then there're torrents, of course. Piratebay is very useful; besides, there're local sites that give away books in English (which UK and Americans don't know about, because nobody thinks of looking for English literature on foreign torrents and because it's illegal anyway).
And also if you just type the book's title in Google you can often get something valid.
Re: Literary piracy
(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 06:39 am (UTC)(link)A year's work, and nothing at all to show for it, all so some poor little person (who can afford an e-reader!) doesn't have to pay for an e-book - which probably costs less than a coffee.
Use the goddam public library.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 06:56 am (UTC)(link)Pretty sure only people who represent holders or actually hold the copyright can report it anyway.

Yeah, so am I. It's lucky I fall into those categories, then, isn't it?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 09:13 am (UTC)(link)So, how about you? How come you know so much about Piratebay? Do you steal from authors? Do you like being stolen from, yourself?
Re: Literary piracy
(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 11:18 am (UTC)(link)I have never used piratebay and have pirated one thing I didn't end up purchasing later ever and I did that out of spite. Because I'm lucky enough to have access to everything I've wanted and haven't had issues with the companies that profit off the artists I want to support.
Piracy is a complicated issue that is not the black and white morality gauge you want it to be.

Lol. They've even summarized it for you: "we used to have a nice graph here, but it's simpler to just say: 0 torrents has been removed, and 0 torrents will ever be removed."
