Till Jackson refuses to release the original versions of the movies, after he's edited/revisioned/redigitilized/revitalized/re-whatever fifty bajillion times. Then you can say he's like Lucas. Jackson has a long way to go before he's perfected the art of milking his fanbase for every cent they're worth.

If you're talking about the three Hobbit movies for a single novel. Yeah, that looks like a pure money grab. Not Lucas level, but a money grab.

And as a Tolkien fan, I'll yield my money for Jackson to incorporate stuff from LOTR appendices into the Hobbit where they provides background, backstory, and context(all very much elaborated on by Silmarillion and Histories of Middle-earth- ) - and hold out hope that one day the Tolkien Estates will release rights to allow filmakers to bring more of Middle-earth to the big screen(though hopefully not directed by Jackson) perhaps to the extent they're even allowed to name the Blue Wizards.

Hehe, so that's why Gandalf forgot...?
Not sure I'd want anyone to actually adapt the Silmarillion though...
