(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 12:54 am (UTC)(link)Again: he was the most human doctor.
He said regenerations felt like dying to him.
what are humans most afraid of? Death.
Maybe you didn't like him or that scene because he behaved like you would have. So human.
He saved the world so many times and what did it give back to him?
Who wouldn't be angry? Or sad?
This regeneration was unlike others. It didn't happen out of a moment. he had to prepare for it. He KNEW it was coming. (And Eleven learnt from that, when he faced the astronaut.)
I can't believe there are people who pick their favourite regeneration... It's always the doctor. And whatever changed him in his new generation is the result of what happened before. You guys should remember that.
and next time you fall and scrape your knee: Don't be whiny.

*loves you for this* This is how I've always seen the Doctor and why I have such a damn hard time comparing and contrasting them (they're successors, not parallels! How can I possibly compare them side-by-side???) and picking favorites and why I'm so confused when people say they hate one regeneration but not another. I always have such a hard time putting this into as concise words as you though.
I don't really agree about regenerations feeling like dying, simply because it was never like that before and there was no compelling reason or event in the show to explain why Ten would feel differently all of a sudden. If they'd given him a more believable reason to change his view, I'd have been far more accepting of it, but the bad writing choices just bugged me.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)and after Ten, he wasn't that scared of it anymore. Eleven learned from that.. that's how I see it.

And this is exactly why I found Ten's ending to be bad writing. It is always the Doctor. It is always the same man. He was not dying. It was melodramatic and out of character.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)Without Nine he wouldn't have acted so human. And without Ten, Eleven wouldn't have been so brave.
Think about it.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)You don't think the same way like you did 4 years ago, right? But you're still the same person.
That's your problem: You think of the doctor and his regenerations as different persons, not as the same person who simply changes his mind or learns from his past.
