I'm a teacher, and I have sorted my high school freshmen into HP houses. I asked them to give me first and second choice of what house they'd like to be in. I put up a slide of all the houses, their traits, their mascots, etc.

Over HALF of my third period wanted to be in Hufflepuff, and a majority of my fifth did as well.

Hufflepuff isn't universally hated. :)
