Re: virus removal?

I assume you have a PC? If there are dedicated computer and electronics stores in your area - something like TigerDirect - they should have computer techs. I've no idea how much it'll cost or what the cost structure is like. It's possible there's an initial assessment fee on top of whatever it'll cost to remove the adware.

Generally speaking, back your files before sending your computer off for servicing because a complete disk erasure and system re-install may be required. The techs are not responsible for the loss of data that may occur in such cases. Also, make sure the techs are reputable since you are leaving personal data with other people. Techs from big companies are generally okay and so are your tech-savvy friends, but friends-of-friends and your local mom-and-pop computer shop are not a good first choice unless they have a trustworthy reputation.

If you want to have another crack at removing the adware yourself, try Malware Bytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/). If the program detects the adware but has trouble removing it, try running Malware Bytes in Safe Mode (this is how to access the startup menu and enter Safe Mode for Windows computers (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm)). If Malware Bytes can't detect the adware or can't remove it in Safe Mode, get someone to look at it. Or Google "remove [name of adware] [name of windows operating system]" if you want to fiddle around with it yourself some more.

Also, have you uninstalled the bad video converter program yet? Sometimes a simple uninstall removes the adware.

Sometimes.

Good luck!
