So is this trend of using real-life atrocities as an excuse to judge fandom behavior going to stop anytime soon? Because it is awful.

violent crime has been on a decreasing trend for decades now, which is counterintuitive to the logic that "tv causes violent crime", considering the increasing access to violent fiction

The stats lie when you legislate so that the people who collect stats have to stop collecting them or change definitions.

Yeah, I understand looking at tragedies through the lens of how they affect you or might affect your life, but using them to justify your Internet fandom arguments and bitchfests is just... ugh.
