First of all, I'm sorry you were triggered, and I hope you get the help you need to heal and cope ... but nonny, what the hell were you doing reading on after the point you got triggered? And why did you give up on the fandom because of one fic?

The way I read it, OP was upset when the trigger part came into it, but could still cope; then she realized that the triggering event wasn't being treated as something traumatic that the character would need to recover from, but an acceptable stepping-stone to setting up a romance. I can see how that would send her into a much bigger tailspin. Possibly to the point of leaving the fandom, if the author is a BNF she couldn't avoid.
