Eh.... before ADWD, I would have been all up in there defending GRRM along with all of the other stans, but afterward... I think he's crossed a line from "realistic" (rape happens in a medieval world beset by turmoil, and that's shitty) to "gratuitous" (Terry Goodkind tier rape every time you turn around).

I honestly fear that the next book will have lesbian dominatrices in skin-tight leather catsuits with pain sticks. ...Followed by, uh, a chicken that invades dreams to preach capitalism? Idk, GRRM's on the other side of the political spectrum than Goodkind, I guess they'll start building statues to Fantasy!Lenin.

Oh yeah, also ADWD fucking sucked balls so I'm less inclined to defend him in general these days. Whatever he was doing for those six years, it sure as hell wasn't working on his fucking writing.

Then you missed... priest!rape! Pirate!rape (copious amounts of)! The repeated rape of a woman whose tongue had been cut out so that she couldn't complain about rape! Dog rape! Castration and (implied) rape!

...To name just what I can think of off the top of my head.

At this rate we really will have whole Goodkind-esque rape troupes going around raping and rating their victims. And GRRM furiously one-hand-typing all the while.
