The ratio is 2,98 per 100,000 in the US (9,146 people were intentionally killed by a gun) and 0.19 in Norway in 2009 (9 homicides, but there were 107 deaths because of a firearm that year, counting suicides and accidents).
If we count the overall homicide rate, in 2009, it's 0.6 in Norway (29), 4.96 in the US (15,241). This table from the FBI gives a comprehensive overview, per US state, of number of homicide vs weapons used (http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2009/data/table_20.html)
