elaminator: (Lord of the Rings: Aragorn)

Aww, Aragorn WOULD make a good father. I can see why you'd want someone like him as a father. (Now I feel like looking for daddy!Aragorn fic.)

I still want to sleep with him, though. ...Or at least watch Arwen do it, whatever.

Aragorn would be an amazing father.

I'm definitely in the "want to sleep with him" camp, though. I never really shipped much in LOTR though, besides being somewhat interested in Aragorn/Eowyn. But my most recent rewatch made me want to read Aragorn/everyone. I finally get and kind of like Aragorn/Arwen. I still like Aragorn/Eowyn. I can see Aragorn/Legolas and Aragorn/Boramir.

I can never ship a guy around that age with a beard. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is another example. Never mind that I can see that they look good, the idea of it just screams Squick!Abort!Abort! to me, lol. (Even though my dad is way older now and doesn't really look like that anymore.)

I'm that way about classic Star Trek (but not the reboot). I started watching re-runs when I was very little and those charavters are like family and I do not want to think about their sex lives! (It's totally cool if other people do, though.)

There's a comic character I'm this way about. And then the movies. And all the fans who are like "LOLSQUEESEXYTIMES!".

That's really cute, OP! Although I'd like to know what exactly made you want him to be your dad -- there's nothing in the plot that I remember about him being dad-like in any significant way (unless I'm forgetting something or not making some connection).

My guess would be how warm and comforting he can be, and how good he is at looking out for people (especially in FOTR).

OP

That's really sweet OP. :)

Aw, that's cute! I bet he'd be an awesome father.
I just can't with the flow of Thorin/Bilbo. It squicks me immensely.

This is exactly how I feel about Dr. McCoy. I grew up with TOS and Dr. McCoy was my fantasy father, so I was never able to envision him as a sexual character. Romantic with a "mother figure" woman, perhaps, but I never wanted to read the sexin's. I thought I'd probably get over that with the reboot, but nope.

Aragorn is awesome.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-29 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd never admit this un-anon, but I totally wish my OTP were my dads. They're my father figures.

I still write terrible kinky porn about them, though. Idk, I clearly have problems.

That's cute.

I'll add I also think he'd be a great father.

I know what you mean, anon. Lord of the Rings was my first fandom, when I was about the same age as you, and I wrote fanfiction there, but I never considered anything to do with sexing up the main characters, especially not with each other. I stumbled across fic which had porn between the background characters, but mostly I managed to avoid it. When I finally did find out, I always found it incredibly strange too.

That's sweet, OP! Aragorn would be a good dad.

Awww, this is so cute. (Personally I have a lot of respect for him and I think of him as a Leader more than anything else, I think partially because the friend who told me to read the books and showed me the movies for the first time had a huuuuuuge thing for him and so he was "off limits" in my head. I'm weird and don't like to move in on even other people's fictional crushes apparently, haha.)

Aww. I have a little bit of headcanon about Aragorn and his kids (canon says he had two daughters as well as Eldarion). I think he'd be the kid at heart - I picture him building mud forts with his kids and being buried in the sand by his little daughters. And Arwen would act all wise and mature, but would secretly want to join in ;)

The way Tolkien wrote about Aragorn and Arwen's kids in the appendices bothered me and makes me judge-y on Aragorn, even thought it isn't his POV, it's just how Tolkien wrote it. But it's like, Eldarion is the only one who gets named because he's the boy and the heir and who cares about their many daughters.

I think there might be something really wrong with me because 90% of the time, when I ship a male character, I at the same time have fantasy scenarios of them as my parents.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-30 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Aragorn would totally take you camping, and beat the shit out of any giant spiders that try to eat you.

You and I think quite alike, OP. I could have written a similar secret. Before I watched the movies for the first time ten years ago, I did an online quiz that determined with canon LotR couple would be my parents. I got Aragorn and Arwen. I think that kind of tainted my impressionable young mind because I like to picture him as my ideal dad too.

I honestly see where you are coming from.
Like for me with the Avengers I do find them 'hot' but at the same time I actually feel like I'd much rather just want to meet them and hang out because they'd be awesome friends.
(Like when I was having a bit of a cruddy time in the last few months I was thinking it would be really awesome if Capt was around and I could talk to him because I think he'd be awesome moral support)

I feel sort of weird shipping LOTR as well because I was quite young when I watched it. I think even now I'd just like to go on adventures with them rather than anything else.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Aww! I can kind of see why he'd cause that reaction. :D
...Now I crave kid!fic.
