For certain people, it's just an excuse to bully and abuse others under the guise of doing something awesome for society. Ugh.

"omg white people invented mermaids because they want to fuck animals, lolol"
and I'm just like... how is that anything but mean and dumb (I looked for some link or something that explained the legends' origin that would have made this funny or on point, and there was none)? I said something, but within like two minutes a white friend yelled at me to take it down. Because how dare I go wtf at "someone blowing off steam."
I mean, I did take it down, because it's really not worth bothering with.
But it annoys me how people somehow equate social justice with acting absurdly and pointlessly mean.

People just blow my mind. Seriously!
They're very lucky that they don't have more important things in their lives to get upset/worry about, right?

Meh. I swear the next time someone says I'm "using the Tone Argument" I will say something like, "Oh, my apologies for assuming you weren't raised by wolves."

Yeah. It made me quite uncomfortable. But since it was about "the privileged group," well, of course that's acceptable.
Well, that's all that matters, right?

The freekout would be epic.
It's amazing how much of Derailing For Dummies has been repurposed for abusing and bullying others. I wonder how the author(s) of that site would feel about that.

THIS THIS THIS THIS
I've wondered the same myself.
The concepts in Derailing is for empowering those who are genuinely in a disadvantage situation of being bullied, disenfranchised, etc, and when peeps use it as a peer group acceptance and to alienate and shame others, it harms those who really need it.

I'm not sure they really care about how it might harm others. It's all about scoring points and getting asspats.
