As a straight woman who has written my fair share of femmeslash, I promise it's not all JUST "wanna try something new!" or doing it for cool "see how open-minded I am" points or whatever. Sometimes I just like exploring different dynamics, and sex is part of many romances, so... why wouldn't I? Plus in terms of porn, women getting off is easier for me to empathize with than men getting off, so femmeslash is still fun even if I don't find myself attracted to women generally.

But the disclaimers are dumb as hell. It's like it implies there is something wrong with *actually* liking/having sex with women, as opposed to just doing it in fic-world. That skeeves me the hell out. I am fortunate never to have experienced it, though.

This. All of this.

I know how my bits work, and when there are a few female characters I could see as a good ship, I write femslash. It has exactly nothing to do with checking off a list or my own preferences; it's just what I want to write.
