That's probably not the worst strategy, you know. Though keep in mind not everyone wants to play out the kinks they enjoy in fandom.

Yeah, plus plenty of people seem to have the converse of this - kinks they love IRL but don't want to air in fandom, either because they're too shy about it or because the kink does not work well in their fandom.
