Where'd you get the impression that Saruman the White was supposed to be someone Gandalf freely disclosed his business to? He knows a lot about Rings of power, which is why Gandalf consulted him in the Lord of the Rings, but Gandalf was never terribly chummy with him.

Sauruman was his fellow Istari (or Wizard). Gandalf probably knew him to some degree back when they were Olórin and Curumo (though even so, I don't think they hung around in the same circles back in Valinor Sauruman was associated with Aulë, the craftsman and smithy of the Valar, while Gandalf was associated with Lórien, the Lord of Dreams and also spent time with Nienna, Valier of Mercy and noted for crying over the pains of the world).

I would think however in their early days as Istari, they would have got to know one another fairly well, even if later events meant they didn't see much of one another for long periods of time.

But Sarumon was always jealous of Gandalf...? Especially when Gandalf was given Nanya instead of Sarumon by the shipmaker whose name I can't remember... and when Gandalf was nominated to head the White Council instead of Sarumon, and declined.
