You're welcome! When I saw that secret, I found myself nodding in agreement. I'm a het shipper, but I sometimes ship slash. Angel/Collins from RENT is my One True Slash Pairing.

I'm the reverse: mostly a slash shipper but I DO sometimes ship het, especially for characters where I can seriously see bisexuality as an orientation. I also ship slash and het for the same character in the same fic sometimes, for example, I can see Vash in Trigun sleeping with both Wolfwood AND Milly.

Mostly, I ship slash for characters for whom the subtext is IMO "almost canon," and I personally find the OMG IT COULD NEVER BE thing laughable, seeing as my main OTP, Wolfwood/Vash, is arguably manga canon (yes, shippers, "I want to spend my tomorrows with him" DOES indicate a relationship could be there. Deal.) and my secondary OTP, Hiro/Ando, has a strong fighting chance at becoming canon at some point (Masi Oka has indicated openness to the idea, as has James Kyson Lee, and even Kevin Smith has noted subtext there).

No, I'm not a yaoi fanbrat. I KNOW a lot of yaoi/slash couples don't have a chance in hell at becoming canon. However, that does NOT mean that het is better, that there's no reason for slash, that slash is bad, or any of the other things I've seen happen. If anything, I'd like to see more non-stereotypical gay/bisexual couples. I see "I never thought they were gay" as a grand compliment to the writers.
