I agree about the problem of judgment-based-on-people's-ships/likings. Overall we've needed the upheaval of fandom integrating social justice concepts into what we do, but it's definitely given a lot of people the urge to impose simplistic ideological purity tests on each other. I think it's going to be a while before that kind of thing settled down/people explore these things in a more subtle way...
