Tales: if you dislike JRPG tropes, you're gonna have a bad time.

Seriously, it's like the same 10 character archetypes, subbing in 1 or 2 others each game.

I think Luke is my favorite JRPG character, despite the cliches. I really loved how he grows as a person and I think it's the best character development out of all the other Tales MCs.

Asch on the other hand I can't stand :X

Oh man, I love Luke so much ;_; He had me feeling a whoooole range of emotions while playing Abyss. A game can do that, but not too often does just one character manage to do that for me.

Not too fond of Asch myself, though I can understand a lot of his actions (even if I thought a bunch of them were dumb.)

I sort of wanted him to just be dead at the end as I hated the open ended "You decide if it's Luke or Asch!" at final cutscene

The characters in Tales games really aren't any more or less cliche than most JRPGs, though.

I feel like the people who say that just haven't played very many JRPGs in the grand scheme of things, tbh.
