I love you, OP.

I also sort of feel your pain. I often just wonder about actual, practical things in fantasy settings. Like, who's looking after Bilbo's house? What happens in you have to pee in a fight? Why were there no toilet scenes on 24?

I also really enjoy discussing tings like how genetic mutation actually works in the X-men universe etc.

Usually these conversations end with people telling me I'm over-thinking it, and I should just enjoy the story :(

I think about this stuff a lot more than I should and since you mentioned bathroom breaks and X-Men, I'm going to share my favorite-

Given that like 85% of the X-Men were these wonderful uni-outfits that are seemingly just a jumpsuit kind of thing with no zippers, what would happen if one of them had to take a piss really, really badly? Can you imagine walking through the hall of the Institute and someone comes barreling through, hopping and squirming about trying to get out of something like that to relieve themselves?

The things that keep me up at night...

Magical zippers in key areas. LOL

All of my personal fantasies are full of bathroom breaks and practicality that I'm sure would appeal to no one else but myself but it's like I can't shut that part of my brain off.

That's a completely valid worry, though!

Also, shape-shifters and clothes...that one hurts my brain.

I've long wondered what Batman does if he's out patrolling the city and he has to pee RIGHT NOW. Go back to the cave? Duck into a gas station after messing with its security cameras?

You just reminded me of when I was a kid and I was watching Star Trek. Some of the characters were in jumpsuit things (can't remember well, it was 10 years or so ago) and I wondered how they took them off to use the toilet.

Ahhh, I wish I could find that Excalibur panel where that's essentially what's happening. Kitty's wearing Rachel's "hound" outift and having some uh, issues.

Mild Hobbit spoilers

Well, for Bilbo's house... whiting this out since it has very mild spoilers for the end of the book. (Nothing major. I mean, we DO know he comes back to Bag End...) [No one actually was looking after Bilbo's house - they all assumed he ran off and died somewhere in the wilderness. When he returned, it was to find an estate auction going on, and it took poor Bilbo a while to convince everyone that he WAS actually alive. He never did get his reputation back after that.

The Sackville-Bagginses were particularly put-out.
]

So yes! That question, at least, actually has an answer XD And don't worry, I do exactly the same thing...

Having had hung out far too long with men in armor who were fighting in wars, bathroom breaks happen between battles, and sometimes men sneak behind trees.

The women fighters probably had to go all the way out of the battlefield, though. I never had a chance to ask them.

I do this too! The lack of toilets in 24 was infuriating. And I also spent too many moments pondering how did the fellowship (in Lord of The Rings) manage their potty breaks. Like... they were days in Moria. Did they just go seeking stray tunnels to take a crap?

I'd imagine they dropped to the back of the column and let the others move ahead a bit before going in the tunnel...
