things like, patience, tolerance, tact, the ability to read non-verbal cues, diplomacy, subtleness, etc. deteriorate if you don't practice them, and it's all but impossible to practice them online when you can just close a window if the person "in front" of you is irritating you

you can't do that irl (which is the appeal of online endeavors, I know), or at least you can't without possibly causing negative consequences

except there is plenty of places online to practise those skills too?

Personally I use those skills pretty damn often in the community I am in.

you do need a certain finesse to navigate internet society too, true, but it's different than irl

it has some things that are harder, like parsing sarcasm, intent, memes, etc., plus the fact that things on the internet can be harder to delete and can spread like wildfire, whereas real life rumors aren't quite as explosive (usually), and unless you are being recorded or faced with particularly gossipy people your words fade as soon as it's over, so it would be unfair to say that it's totally easier, but real life has this way of throwing situations at you that you would normally be able to avoid if it were on the internet, and irl you have to deal with them

I think that largely depends on what you do on the internet though. For example, I run a roleplaying community. The people on the internet throw far more unexpected situations at me than real life ever does. In fact, I've found that the skills I developed on the internet in terms of debating, mediating, hell even having to tell people to fuck off sometimes, aid me in my daily life.

agreed. There are two people in my life for whom I am their primary social contact. In person conversation, negotiating in real time with other people and correctly reading them, is a skill. It gets rusty.
