Re: remixes/covers that are better than the original

Van Canto's Master of Puppets and The Bard's Song are better than Metallica's and Blind Guardian's. tbh all of their covers tend to be at least as good as the originals.

Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Battle of Evermore is a huge improvement on Led Zeppelin's. Welcome to the Machine is also excellent, but it only barely beats out the original, depending on my mood that day.

Gregorian has quite a few that I think are better, although I can't remember them off the top of my head. Basically all they do is covers, though, so it's like shooting fish in a barrel to find a good one with them.

Dream Theater's To Tame a Land (original)

Good call on Battle of Evermore. Speaking of Van Canto and Led Zepplin, on my Van canto wishlist is Kashmir.

Unfortunately I discovered this brilliant cover of It's a Sin just after the band broke up.

Gwar nailed a live studio version of Carry on My Wayward Son.
