I once had a conversation with several friends over lunch. We were trying to work out the biology of the Twilight universe. I remember coming to the conclusion that the vampire "venom" was actually a virus that modifies cells and can only be transmitted by direct blood-to-blood contact, or something like that.

We also once ended up discussing how inheritance of the magical gene functioned in Harry Potter. It was awesome, but had too much complicated bio for me to remember most of it anymore.
