Eh you need to consider the historical period in which the film was set, the age difference was perfectly okay back then.

I am pretty sure the age difference would have been alright. She still would have been considered to young, though.

Do you actually know much about the historical period, or are you just making assumptions? The character is wearing her hair in plaits. In the society of that time, this marks her out to be a child still, which is why people don't kick up MORE of a fuss about her going off with two strangers. A female who's considered adult and of marriageable age would wear her hair up.

...We're not really talking about whether or not sex between them was ok or not, we're talking about a modern person watching that scene and thinking sex would be hot.

Try 17 or maybe 16, for that culture. Not 14. She's still underage.
