Almost any ship in the Silmarillion, unless it's interspecies, is almost certainly incesty. They're all fucking related in some way or the other.

BTW, doesn't anybody else find it creepy that Elrond gave away her daughter to the descendant of his brother? I mean, sure they're the most purrfect, preshuz men, the closest to the glory of Valinor and the Elves and whatnot, but it's the Numenorean royal bloodline, your effing brother's progeny. DO NOT WANT.

Arwen and Aragorn are first cousins royal-houses-of-Numenor-Gondor-Arnor-Arthedain-chieftains-of-the-Dunedain removed. I forgot how long the Second Age was? The Third Age was over 3000 years.

So, yeah, first cousins, but removed so many times it doesn't even hit the icky-meter for me.

But, er, what you said in the first place. Elrond's marriage to Celebrían (or that betwen Celeborn and Galadriel for that matter) is way more incesty than Arwen and Aragorn (what with everyone being related and Elrond in particular being related to everyone).
And there's, what, 60 generations between Aragorn and Arwen. I imagine there are people who are related like that in the real world and never know about it... I don't know, it baffles me that people are creeped by Arwen/Aragorn.

Maybe not quite that way, since I'm not sure you could fit that many generations into a human lifetime.

I guess they hear "first cousin" and ignore the innumerable "removed"s?

Celeborn and Galadriel: second cousins.

Elrond and Celebrian are second cousins once removed on Galadriel's side - Galadriel's brother is Elrond's great grandfather.

Hehe, yours too.
But yeah. Plus Elrond and Celeborn are related, since Nimloth is both Elrond's grandmother and Celeborn's niece. Hell, even Eärendil and Elwing are vaguely related (since Beren and Tuor's mother both belong to the house of Bëor). Arwen's family tree is one big, prestigious if tangled mess...

Arwen's family tree reminds me of a vaguely remembered commentary on a guide to breeding chocobos in FF7. It basically said that a gold chocobo for the sake of getting the really hard-to-get Knights of the Round materia has a relatively straight forward family tree. A perfect racing chocobo however has a tree that loops around on it and makes you want to starting naming them stereotypical inbred country hick names.
