I almost never write about the main characters in a work. It's always the minor characters, and it's always over some stupid detail that no one else cares about.

(For instance, right now, I'm working on a story about FedoraFreak from Homestuck. Some guy whose name we don't even know, and only had maybe ten lines talking to the Nannasprite during the Scratch intermission. But I find him weirdly fascinating and I want to write about his adventures.)

i do this, too. i tend to write about fics with minor characters being friends with or paired off with other minor characters. i like crack pairings a lot which ties into my fascination with minor characters.

I don't even pair them! I just write about them having their own super-exciting adventures offscreen and away from the actual cast. I have no idea why!
