I love Rosen because he has just so many layers he works at. The parental feel is definitely one of them, and one of the ones that shows off his vulnerability the most (which is also nice). He's also a boss and a psychologist, which gives him power over them, but at an emotional distance. He's also a normal (or at least he was) and so has the power of not facing the prejudice they do -- the ability to give up the whole alpha thing at any point, if he should so desire. His normality, of course makes him weaker as well, being that he doesn't have any power up to save him, and has to rely on their abilities, and keeps him in the outsider status. It's just a nice bunch of dynamics stacked one on the other, constantly playing off of each other. It helps make Rosen feel very human.

I can't wait to see how things change in the next season. I hope they don't change by him being dead.

Yes! You've described one of the reasons I love Rosen so much -- he's such a fascinating, multi-layered character.

It's also interesting that he has a lot of stereotypical "maternal" characteristics as a counterpoint to the two ultra-masculine tough guys he leads. Even his downsides..."controlling" and "manipulative" are often seen as the dark side to the maternal archetype, versus "violent" and "intimidating" for bad fathers, and the show doesn't make him seem weak or "lesser than male" for it. You don't see male characters on TV like Rosen very often.

I can't wait to see how things change in the next season.
As of right now, it is not looking good for a "next season". All of Syfy's other shows have had their statuses determined. Alphas has not. And according to Ryan Cartwright's Twitter feed, we should have heard something in December. Which makes me think that the actors' options were up then. And as nothing has been announced, I'd presume the options were allowed to expire. Which means the show is likely dead. I would like another season, as I enjoyed the show overall, but I highly doubt it will happen. Unless I missed something? But I'd presume it would be on tvbythenumbers, as they're good about that, and there is nothing on there.

I like it too, OP. I really love in general how this show focuses on familial and friendly relationships more than sexual - for the most part, anyway, lol. They're all great characters and I love seeing them bounce off each other (I kinda ship Nina/Rachel but I mostly just started watching the show because I thought their friendship was so sweet).

Also, I really like the way you've laid out this secret. It's neat. :)

I don't know anything about this show, but from the pictures I'd assume that all three were related. They all have the same eyes. Reading your secret I wonder if the actors weren't cast together on purpose.

I agree, OP. I like that dynamic on the show. I think it got a little twisted, with Rosen's stronger/more heavy handed manipulation and enabling of Nina, but I can still see it.

I haven't caught up on recent Alphas, but I like this dynamic in general. Nate & Parker and Artie & Claudia are my favorites. (Then I turn around and 'ship Gibbs/Abby and people tell me I evidently can't perceive a loving relationship as anything but sexual, but hey.)
