It's not like sibling-cest isn't also deeply fucking gross when you think about, but that's pretty much an accepted part of fandom. Not really seeing that there's any worth in putting up a fence with one on the outside if the other's on the inside.

Personally, my problem isn't with the incest so much as it's with the power dynamics. Siblings/cousins close in age generally don't have the same sort of relationship dynamics as parents do with their children. It is far more creepy that somebody falls in love with a person they've taken care of as a baby than somebody they've grown up with. Yes, I also have a problem with large age-gap pairings where the older person has cared for the younger since the younger was a child, or any pairing where the power dynamics are fucked up (one person has more control over the other without the other person's full consent).

Idk. I get that it's a different power dynamic and that these things are different in kink than IRL.

But I still think there are massive power-dynamic problems there. I grew up one of seven siblings and cousins raised together. All of us are within five years of each other in age. Yet the power imbalances and vying for hierarchy was savage. Any one of us could have permanently fucked any one of the others up if incest had... urgh, even the thought is horrible. We left each other with enough odd edges and old resentments just through kid stuff.
