I'm a little confused about the balance between thinking something is gross and not judging someone for liking it. Is it possible to think something is gross and honestly not think someone enjoying it is also gross?

I find all kinds of shit gross without judging people for liking it, WTF. Food, for example. I'm not going to go around smacking tapioca pudding out of people's hands or glazed donuts because and saying HOW DARE YOU because I think that stuff is gross.

Logic fail, people

There's a distinct difference with the implications behind calling a food gross and calling a sexual kink gross.

lol you're just itching to be persecuted, eh?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's not really persecution so much as dickish behavior.

Well at least you acknowledge when you're being dickish.

This is possibly not really related, and I'm fairly sure no one is here at this time of night, but you just reminded me:

We used to have a rule in my household, when I was younger, that if you were presented with a food, and you said, "Ew," then you had to try the food. I remember this largely due to one occasion when I was maybe ten wherein my mother had to eat butter on steak. My brother and I were gleeful, and never questioned it again.

But the reason I thought of it was having this rule applied to this discussion. Oh, dear....

(Note that I don't condone forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to, especially sexually, but you have to admit it's pretty funny.)

I'm here at this time of night one day later (no internet access over the weekend), and yes, I think I'll keep this in mind as I read the rest of the thread. Hee.
