I think this is why FFN mass-deleted their entire NC17 section in 2002; they said the category was the source of pretty well all the complaints they received, and I imagine a lot of those were complaints from parents.

They weren't sued, afaik, it was more a matter of reducing their workload/reducing the need to fend off imaginary legal threats. Which is why it seemed so horrifically callous towards writers & readers at the time - they were doing it for everyone except the site's audience. :/
