Re: fanfic clichés you hate

There's a pairing that's popular. I prefer it as platonic friendship, but I don't mind the shipping and I can see why it's done. The problem comes in characterization, for one half of the pairing in particular. He's always either (a) love or lust-struck over his friend to the exclusion of just about anything else, or (b) predatory seducer out to entice this naive young man, and both of those just... no.

...this kind of thing happens a lot, of course. But when this pairing dominates almost all of the fic about my favorite characters, it gets particularly irritating.

I get that. I mostly hate anything that makes the characters OOC.
