This is funny because John Lasseter was overseeing this movie instead of Pixar for a change, which -might- have something to do with Pixar's recent downturn in quality. My BTS knowledge is fleeting, but I do know Lasseter had a hand in this one, and that's probably why I personally keep mistaking Brave for a DreamWorks movie and Wreck-it Ralph for Pixar.
