A Wreck-It Ralph secret that wasn't linked because of porn? Those exist?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-05 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I felt like after he got to Candyland the entire movie fell flat on its face.

People keep saying that but I've yet to understand it.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
DA

I suspect that might be because, in some ways, that's where Disney leaves one of it's major tropes behind ['I have to get X to prove Y/to become Y/etc' In this case it was 'I have to get a medal to prove I can be a good guy and deserve that kind of treatment!'] and went a little more pixar-ish in that it focused on the character actually realizing it for themselves without needing an object or physical change to prove it.

...Of course, that's just a personal theory and very likely wrong.

I know some geeks were upset when the rapid cameos stopped, but that was earlier in the movie, so...

I don't get why people are so crazy about this movie. I liked it, don't get me wrong, but generally it seems more mediocre-good than awesome-good.
Rise Of The Guardians gets a lot of flack, but I actually thought the two movies were on par with each other.

I think people just love it so much because Disney only produced CGI crap before WIR came out. And no, I'm not referring to Pixar movies as Disneys. Disney CG is Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, The Wild and other junk like that.

*gets stones thrown at*

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't even seen any of those other CGI films from Disney and I still loved WiR.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
...But WiR is technically CGI...?

Also, WiR does turn some traditional Disney aspects on their head's, so that's another thing that might be causing people to like it.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
They never said that WIR wasn't CG? WTF?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Meet The Robinsons and Bolt were perfect Disney CGI movies, k.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Because people like different things. Neither my sister or I enjoyed RotG, as we found it boring and a chore to watch. We did, however, sit through and enjoy all of WiR. The conclusion here, is that WiR was good and RotG bad and considering she watched Despicable Me 5 times in a row, DM is awesome.

It really has nothing to do with the production company name/brand and everything to do with the stories and characters being interesting or not.

Are you calling Tangled crap?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Or maybe they love it because they're not you.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
This is funny to me because I keep seeing it mistaken for a Pixar movie.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
No judgment, this is me too. I totally connected to Vanellope and Ralph and cried a few times, and I adore Calhoun and Felix.

I need this movie on DVD immediately. It really hit me hard.

My conjecture is that Wreck-It Ralph is easier for younger viewers to connect to than most Pixar movies. A lot of the emotional aspects of Pixar's movies seem to be intended for the parents in the audience--the kids are just supposed to be amused and entertained.
ext_84085: (Doctor Who - shrug)

[identity profile] lunayoshi.livejournal.com 2013-01-06 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
This is funny because John Lasseter was overseeing this movie instead of Pixar for a change, which -might- have something to do with Pixar's recent downturn in quality. My BTS knowledge is fleeting, but I do know Lasseter had a hand in this one, and that's probably why I personally keep mistaking Brave for a DreamWorks movie and Wreck-it Ralph for Pixar.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a competition and I don't know why this needs to be a secret. Disney makes awesome movies. Pixar makes awesome movies. It's great that Disney and Pixar can equally make movies that we can connect to emotionally and since Pixar is under the Disney umbrella they profit from both company's movies. They're in a freakin' symbiotic relationship. Again, it's not a competition.

I could understand if this secret was about a DreamWorks movie or another competing animation company, but Pixar? It just seems silly that you can't express this opinion.

I wouldn't say MORE than any Pixar movie (WALL-E is my favorite film of all time), but personally I liked it more than Brave.
