Some people (not everyone, but there were some) loved everything but the ending, because "he broke his toys so no one will ever play with them again".
Personally I thought it was heartbreaking and wonderful.

Yes, he did. And it was beautiful and heartbreaking. And oh so right considering the meta message of JiM. Kid!Loki was not going to stay forever, so I'd rather have Gillen end his story and continue writing this new Loki (and he writes Loki really well) than let anyone else fuck the character up.

I really would have liked to see what other writers would do with Kid!Loki. I find it interesting to see different takes on characters; some I like, some I don't. Yes, somebody could have messed him up but somebody else, given the chance, could have done something amazing.

I don't trust Marvel to keep good things. They would have turned Kid!Loki evil sooner or later and I'd rather had this lovely bubble of a story that rage forever. I'm still raging about the Phoenix retcon.
