My dad alternated between being Castle and being your dad, nonny. He was a SF geek, and encouraged me to go to college (one of the few in my family who went), and he and Mom both bought me comic books, and sent me to conventions, and Dad worked on stuff with me/for me when I needed help.

That being said, he belittled me a lot, I was terrified of him when he was angry and/or drunk, and he has soured me on being in any type of relationship with a man.

So I feel for you, Nonny. And I hope you can keep your spirits up, until you can get away from your dad.
