it has rocket ships and laser guns. ergo, it's sci-fi

(not hard science fiction, certainly, and it's referencing westerns at least as much if not more than science fiction tropes, but it's still definitely science fiction. the lack of plausible extrapolative scientific concepts doesn't make something un-science fiction)
