I am kinda half certain they may have been told to deny it or say they haven't been approached even if they have, to keep everything as nice a surprise as possible?

I think Tennant said in an interview not long ago that a BBC woman had come to him before the interview to tell him he wasn't allowed to say anything, followed with him saying: how can I say anything when I don't know anything.

Or something like that? I might have dreamt this? Or it might have been some kind of joke/gif. from Tumblr. or something.

But if that is true, they might have just told everyone to say they wont be in it? BBC can be quite good at keeping Doctor Who things secret when they want them to be.

I seem to remember reports of him doing some verbal gymnastics along those lines too! Let's face it the press are going to try and be all over it so they may have to employ tactics that will keep it as secret as possible. Having said that, the British press has generally been quite respectful of Doctor Who secrets recently.

I thought it wasn't a dream:

David Tennant on Jonathan Ross:

"I’ll tell you how terrified they are. In make-up tonight, this lovely lady came in, who I never met before, and went ‘I’m from the BBC,’ and I went, ‘oh, hello, nice to meet you!’ And she said ‘I’ve been sent to say that anything about the Doctor Who 50th anniversary must not be mentioned on television.’ That’s how scared they are! I don’t know anything, I’ve got nothing to tell ya, and they’re sending out spies to shut me up from telling you things I don’t know!"
