Re: The Lone Ranger
(Anonymous) 2013-01-08 12:08 am (UTC)(link)Same for Django Unchained. All the comments flying around by Tarantino and others... it's just awkward.
Re: The Lone Ranger
It did have a gratuitous amount of n-bombs but so does every other Tarantino film, at least this one is historically accurate in its use of the n-word
(Oh and that Lone Ranger movie looks ridiculously racist, like would it have really killed them to choose an actual Native American actor for that role instead of Depp and then dismissing the choice by saying "oh but he's .0001% Native American so it's ok"?)
Re: The Lone Ranger
(Anonymous) 2013-01-08 12:52 am (UTC)(link)Disclaimer: Haven't seen the movie, don't intend to because Tarantino isn't my cup of tea, so I can't comment on the actual film, just what I've heard.
Re: The Lone Ranger
I kind of wonder if maybe white directors shouldn't touch black history in general, I read about how Spielberg got some criticism for directing The Color Purple (though in that case it was just a book adaptation, he didn't write the original material it was based on)
Re: The Lone Ranger
(Anonymous) 2013-01-08 02:35 am (UTC)(link)On the other? I also think it's wrong to restrict what someone is allowed to take on as far as what they write or make in a creative endeavor. I can't say anything about Bastards because, again, I didn't see it.
