Is it just me or do people seem to use 'judge' far too flippantly and not realize how silly it is to be judging because some fourteen year old writes a pairing you disagree with or some person uses a kitschy generic song for their AMV.

In the long run does it really matter? I mean you can just put in the titles of songs you like with "___ amv" and be happy. Does the world really have to know that you're judging them? Honestly

a lot of "judge you" secrets are petty and pointless. I can understand judging someone for sympathizing with Chris Brown after what he did to his girfriend...or thinking people should just "leave Roman Polanski alone!!11!11!" or something like that...

but really judging someone for this kind of stuff seems like a waste of energy. What are we going to judge people on next liking foods we personally hate? /sick of the 'judging you' trend.

actually i think people always judge other people for dumb shit MUCH more than they vocalize (on & off fandomsecrets) and it really doesnt take that much energy! i'm doing it right now. U LOVE RASCAL FLATTS see not that hard

Eh, I see a big difference between judging fandoms and judging fans. Fandom is something you can opt in or out of, people are people. I judge fandoms based on whether they can keep a kinkmeme going. If they can't, I'm probably going to run out of fic to read before I get too deeply into it. Judging fans is just obnoxious. They don't exist for your fannish pleasure.

While most "I judge you" secrets are a little stupid, I think this is one of the more reasonable ones, tbh. If there are a bunch of AMVs in the fandom to the same damn song, you tend to start assuming the fandom is full of unoriginal dunderheads.

Personally, I sometimes use AMVs to find new music, so I particularly enjoy it when there's a variety of stuff to sample. If my fandom used only a handful of popular songs? Yeah, I'd judge. Not anybody individually, but the fandom as a whole for being boring.

(And btw, people already judge others based on the foods they eat; I'm assuming you've never run into any die-hard vegetarians/vegans who think meat-eaters are disgusting, or meat-eaters who thing vegetarians/vegans are all a bunch of limp-wristed pansies. Or people who judge overweight people for eating anything at all.)

ah well I was thinking of individual foods ("Omg you like lima beans? I judge you!") But yeah I've seen that too. Tumblr Vegans be nutty man. Nutty. Also the people who think being overweight is as easy as "just don't eat and exercise DUHHH" Bone structure, metabolism, health issues,and possibly even psychology.

Ahhh now I get what you mean from that point of view. Thinking of it like that, that is kind of boring honestly. Sorry I came off harsh. "Judge you" stuff has become my pet peeve. (and "What Hurts the Most" is really a generic song I thought was awesome when I was like...fourteen, seventeen maybe *shrug* ) I thought at first OP was more along the lines of "I hate this song so judging" but now I see.
