The thing about tumblr is that you can never see EVERYTHING that's been posted. It annoyed my inner OCD a bit, but that's just the way it is. It's not a wonderful way to keep up to date with things (unles the poster links it to their twitter account, for example), but i find it quite fun, in a "thing to do on lazy sundays" kinda way :)

This. I was out of one of my fandoms since the start of this season because spoilers were rampant, and I felt like catching up during the winter hiatus. It was basically a choice between spending literal hours catching up on my three favorite users' activities or just diving right back in, and I picked the former because apparently my OCD is worse than yours ;) . Now all I do is follow those three users. (And even that's time-consuming; once new episodes start up again, I might not bother.)
