Re: Cosplaying characters of different races

It is FAR better to not colour your skin if cosplaying as someone of a different race, than it would be to colour yourself.

The only exception for colouring your skin is if the character is distinctly non-human and isn't based on any actual race. So painting yourself brown to cosplay Katara is bad because the Water Tribe is based on the Inuit, but painting yourself grey to cosplay a Homestuck troll is fine.
