"The last truly happy time in his life"? You gotta be fucking kidding. While the commie time was truly brutal and can hardly be be topped in its insanity, the time of the last tsar generation was hardly happy for the majority of population. There is a reason why the revolution happened in the first place, after all.

While this comment is a little harsh, I basically agree. It is really starting to bug me, the prevalence of people who paint the pre-revolution period as some kind of happy utopia where Russia was so happy until those mean common people revolted for no reason at all. Despite the fact that as a nation, shouldn't he represent all his people?

That being said, I'm not opposed to cute fics with Russia and the Romanovs or anything. It's the whole 'last time he was truly happy' that annoys me.

Eh, actually the creator of hetalia has flat out said that Russia [the character] snapped on Bloody Sunday. So that one's actually on the creator, not the OP.
