As an adventure game protagonist sometimes it's frustrating when he doesn't pick up obvious clues like the player does, but aside from that he's a very easy character to like. He's naive to a fault because he simply wants the best for everyone and doesn't want to believe others don't feel that way too. It's terribly endearing imo.

Yeah, I agree. I think that's why none of the others really tried to off him, despite him being otherwise a prime target due to 1) solving all the cases and 2) being obviously not that physically strong. He was too nice. He made things better for the rest of them, and the free time events show he sometimes helped take their minds off their situation.

He's my favourite, really.

I KNEW IT I remembered that you read fandomsecrets and I do not know many other people who are into this game so obviously I thought of you and yeah.

To be fair, wanting to be like Naegi is not really something that requires secrecy. Especially since there seem to be many in this thread who agree with you.

I don't even think Naegi is really a bland guy! He just looks less exciting in comparison to all the prodigies and bizarre personalities IMO. (I mean, Hagakure or Ishimaru or Syo could make absolutely anyone look normal by comparison.) But he's super optimistic, knows how to keep people together when it really counts, has kind of bad self-esteem, and he starts to develop a really funny sarcastic streak by the end of the game. He's definitely made to fit into the 'relateable everyguy' mold, but I think he's one of the better examples of such a character. And I highly approve of wanting to be like him! :D

I feel the same way. I think wanting to be more optimistic and hopeful is a good thing.

He's my favorite out of the first group of characters.
