Swimming

(Anonymous) 2013-01-10 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, F!S. Any other swimmers here? Hardcore or casual? Where do you swim? What's your usual routine?

Do you make up fanfic while you swim? Do you find yourself imagining a disproportionate number of scenarious where your OTP save drowning children and things?

Splish.

Aw. This post is cute. I love swimming but I haven't in a very long time. Super casual swimming when I had a gym membership, nothing serious. I've been thinking about it lately. I'm always looking for aerobic activity that will keep me interested. (Interested means motivated and I get bored easily.)

I make up fanfic when I'm exercising in other ways, yes.

Off topic slightly:

I used to play "Save the drowning characters" with my brothers, which was a game involving Hot Wheels cars crashing (being thrown in the deep end) resulting in efforts to retrieve the car in a certain time limit with limitations set (swim from this part of the pool, find the car with your eyes closed, etc.).

I love swimming. I haven't been able to for about 6 months (stupid skin conditon) but I'll be back in the pool soon.

I love to think about fandom while I'm swimming. I'm a sucker for ships with an intensely cerebral individual e.g. Holmes, Spock etc., maily because I've frequently been accused of being so myself, and I find that swimming is the only time I'm peaceful enough to start to get into their heads. It's a wonderful feeling.

That said, I'll love the flume if it's running ;-)

*Splish back*

I'm not that great at it but I can swim, I mostly just do the breaststroke in the pool... I'm a casual swimmer but when I had my free YMCA membership I did it every other day, either that or the elliptical machine. Mostly I just like to tread water or float in the pool because being in the water really chills me out :D

I love swimming. Last summer I was spending nearly every Saturday on the beach in Maine (great mysteries of the world: people who go to the beach for reasons other than swimming. REALLY WHY, I DON'T GET THIS. IT'S COVERED IN ANNOYING SAND FFS.)

I was a competitive swimmer for years, but that was ages ago. Now I largely swim to dive (SCUBA or free) so for the most part I'm thinking about "oh cool look at that fish" or "how much air have I got left".

I love swimming and try for 3* a week. I am not super fast, but decent at breaststroke and currently tecahing myself freestyle. I shoot for about 1.5K every session.
