...IIRC he was *really* anti-mage, so he was kind of the opposite of Anders.

I wouldn't say he was the opposite of Anders, though they definitely have parallels. He definitely was anti-mage, but aside from grumbling about his opinions and prejudices, he didn't do anything about it. He didn't actively try to change the situation in Tevinter, or help fellow slaves. He didn't violently try to incite rebellion either. While their viewpoints may complement one another, their methods and how they react to their experiences in life are drastically different. Fenris is much more grounded and practical, while Anders dreams big and takes an "all-or-nothing" approach.

AYRT

I actually meant that, when it came to what I'm fairly certain the OP considered him fanatical about, he was the opposite. He hated mages, and would have wanted to see them locked up. Anders? The exact opposite.

[I can't remember if he actually states that anywhere - but it's pretty obvious given his prejudice against mages.]

This

Whether or not he wanted to actually would go on a crusade, his attitude was there. IMO, makes it hard for a mage character.

The other anon is basically saying Fenris is better than Anders, and that is YMMV.
